As we review the first half of 2014, what stands out in our minds are two (2) settlements from our personal injury department that makes us think of the Bionic Man (the television series from 1974 to 1978). The Bionic Man was known as the Six Million Dollar ($6,000,000.00) Man which was the namesake of the show. Sacco & Fillas, LLP has its own Bionic Man, partner Elias N. Fillas, Esq. but the only difference is that he is the $6.5 Million Dollar ($6,500,000.00) Man. Why you ask? Mr. Fillas was lead attorney on the aforementioned two (2) cases from our personal injury department that settled for a total of $6.5 Million Dollars: $4.5 Million Dollars was for a laborer who fell as a result of an unsafe construction site that caused him to undergo spinal surgeries. The fall left him incapable of returning to work. This action was brought under Labor Law Section 241(6). The second action settled for Two Million ( $2,000,000.00) Dollars for a passenger on a chartered bus that crashed as a result of a sleeping driver. She also underwent surgeries to her spine which also left her incapable of returning to work. Kudos to our $6.5 Million Dollar Man, Partner, Elias N. Fillas, Esq. who with his Bionic Powers brought justice and compensation to these victims.
On a serious note, we wish our clients all the best. It was an honor for our clients to look upon our firm to essentially place their lives in our hands to obtain some semblance of a life again.
